Polkerris

platform

I adore this cos it has an unexplained mystery about it a bit like a Doig. The light and the free painting technique (that I find difficult to do) make it mysterious. I used oil pastel followed by acrylic used thin and then thicker. This give the creatures on the platform alien halos and the bathers in the foreground seem to be observing them perhaps with caution. It is in fact a platform that people swim out to and frolic. I did another painting of it which you may see here. Very different, it includes some sort of inflatable dragon!
